This year we have started a new school council at Ellington Infant School. Two children from each class have been nominated and voted for to represent their class.
The school council and Mrs O’Halloran will meet (at least) termly to discuss issues that have arisen at school so that the children can add their voice to the decisions our school’s leadership team and governors have to make. The councillors will ask their classes and friends for views and opinions on these issues and then bring their findings back to myself and the school’s leadership team.
The children will also be invited to attend part of some governor meetings throughout the school year.
As a school we believe that the children have an extremely valuable contribution to make and being a part of this process will have a positive impact on us as a school, as well as giving the children a taster of the grown up world of decision making processes and meetings!
School Councillors will have badges to wear on their jumpers. I will send a note home informing you of when council meetings are and these will always be during the school day.
