I have been a Governor since 2010 when I was elected as a parent governor; I became Vice-Chair shortly after and I was then elected as Chair in 2015.  I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher and a passionate believer in every child's right to a fantastic quality of education.

As an experienced governor at Ellington I work with the school staff, children and wider community to ensure that, not only do children enjoy their time at our school but that they also fulfill their potential within a caring environment that presents them with opportunities and creates memories for life.

I was a parent at Ellington for six years while both my sons attended. As soon as we first viewed the school, I knew that it had a special feel and I loved seeing my children grow in confidence and ability while they were here. I started to volunteer with the PTFA as a way to help support Ellington and then became a parent Governor in 2011.

I am currently a Business Administration Manager for a company with over 1500 employees and I have worked in a business environment for over 23 years, which has involved auditing training, Human Resources and Health and Safety. In my current role, I help to prepare financial budgets and business planning along with agreeing supplier contracts and ensuring best value for money. I use the skills that I have gained from my work to help support and contribute in my role in the Governing Body.

I have been a governor, in one guise or another, for nearly 20 years.  Twice as a parent governor, once as a staff governor and twice as a Head teacher governor…. all but one of these was at an infant school.  Governors have an important job ensuring that schools provide a high quality education for their pupils within the budget that has been set and at Ellington Infant School we have a talented and dedicated team of governors committed to getting our school to ‘outstanding’.

I joined Ellington Infants in 2012 and I am proud to be the Head teacher of such a caring and forward thinking school, I believe that our school has the potential to be the best in Thanet!

I have worked at Ellington for the past 2 and half years. My role in the school is a Reception Teacher with the responsibility of Play and Learning in the outside area and PE Co Coordinator. I am a dedicated member of the team who is passionate about giving every child the opportunity to learn and providing them with the best possible start in their education. I love the ethos and enthusiasm of the whole team at Ellington and thoroughly enjoy teaching here.  I took on the role of Teacher Governor as I wanted to make a contribution to the development of the school.

I became a parent governor in December 2015 shortly after my eldest son joined reception. I am currently a stay-at-home Mum but prior to this I worked as a Civil Servant for over ten years. In my role as a Customs Officer, close team working and good communication were important skills that I can now bring to the governing body.

I have worked within the education sector both as a volunteer Teaching Assistant and as one-to-one home tutor of English as a foreign language.

I am passionate about children being given the best chances in life and being provided with the opportunities to discover their potential.  As a parent governor I hope to bring an honest perspective and viewpoint to the Governing Body.

I work in Corporate Banking as a Relationship Support Manager looking after a small portfolio of medium sized businesses. By building close relationship I can understand their needs, which enables me to help them achieve their ambitions. I enjoy working as part of a team and I will challenge or support issues with equal message. I am committed to high standards with risk and control practices ensuring the best possible solutions are achieved.

As a Governor I look to support the aims and objectives of the school by using the skills I gained with my 26 years in banking.

I joined Ellington Infant School as Deputy Headteacher in January 2013 and have been part of the Governing Body since that time. Being a Governor sheds a different light on school leadership and I enjoy sharing my understanding of children’s learning and development with the team.

We are lucky to have a team of people committed to helping Ellington grow and continue to provide a fabulous education for the children who attend. By working together we can develop and improve the school for the children of Ramsgate.
